The Hens and Chicks Barn Quilt is a tender symbol of love and home, inspired by the gentle rhythm of farm life. As the trees turn and the air grows crisp, I find myself reaching for warm paints, cozy stitches, and colors that reflect the richness of this season. This weekend feels like the perfect time to share something bright and new — the Carpenter Rainbow Star Barn Quilt.

There’s something about fall that makes me want to gather people together. Maybe it’s the golden light on the mountains, the turning of leaves, or the way autumn seems to invite us indoors with stories and craft.

Several years ago, I was asked by The Corn Wagon in Springville, Utah, to design a logo for their store. They wanted something that reflected the classic Corn and Beans quilt block but with a fresh twist that tied in a star motif. I loved the challenge and began sketching. By shifting the angle of just a few blocks, the Corn and Beans Star was born. I painted the design for them, and to this day, it remains the logo for their shop—a beautiful nod to tradition and creativity.
